Family First Fridays

The Family is the most basic unit of society.  Although people are trying to change the definition of a family, our Father in Heaven instituted the first family by placing Adam and Eve upon the Earth.  It has always taken a man and a woman to create a child, even science cannot find a way around using the parts from each gender to create another human being, though they are trying.

Have you ever considered that the best place for a child to learn and grow and develop happens when two biological parents love each other and love the child they together have created??  Now this is not to say that adoptive parents or families without children or extended families love less, but the most ideal setting for children is between two biological parents who love each other and their children.  Other situations can love children, teach them, and guide them and they can become amazing people, but those are the exceptions not the rules, just as two biological parents without love and affection can abuse their children--again the exception, not the rule.

As I have watched our society try to change the definition of family and marriage, I am saddened at the discussions.  In my opinion, we are leaving out the most fundamental reasons for our discussion.  As we talk about adult rights and desires for love and companionship, we are neglecting the rights of children.  Children have no voice in our political systems.  As their parents, we have the responsibility to be their voice and stand up for the rising generation who has no political voice of their own.  We should be speaking of children's rights.  What about their right to have a mother and a father?  I love what The Family:  A Proclamation to the World says:

"....The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity....."

Children are ENTITLED.....it is their right to be born into a family that has been married and has a father AND a mother.

Who is going to stand up for their rights???!!  As the mother of nine of them, I am going to.  Will you join me?  My efforts to post Family First Friday is to help all of us learn behaviors that will increase our ability to have happy families.  All of us, regardless of our sexual orientations have a family.  We are someone's child.  There was a mother and there was a father who came together to create that child, even if it happened in a test tube.  Unfortunately, many in our societies are neglecting the rights of that child to have both of the parents it took to bring them life participate in his or her life.  That is violating that child's rights, and we should not be doing that.  Help me strengthen our societies by strengthening our families and considering the rights of children and the generations that follow us.
